THE MEDIA VG is the collecting society of private television and radio stations in Germany. With more than 100 private TV and radio rights holder companies as they represent almost all the private broadcasters in Germany. These television channels such as RTL, Sat.1, ProSieben, RTL 2, N24, DSF, including n-tv, MTV and radio stations as Antenne Bayern, Radio FFH, and Hit-Radio Antenne Niedersachsen. The partners are the ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG and RTL Television GmbH VG Media is one of 13 approved collecting societies in Germany and is under the supervision of the German Patent and Trademark Office (DPMA).

As the composer for GEMA, VG Wort, or for writers, performs the VG Media copyright and property rights for the private television and radio companies end. These have their basis in the Copyright Act. The copyright and related rights protect the investments of creators and the creative industry and ensure them a fair share of the economic exploitation of their television and radio programs and all other copyright and performance rights.

The VG Media has set tariffs for different uses of copyright and related rights and published in the Federal Gazette. Subject to the payment of equitable remuneration allowed to VG Media its licensees from using the rights.

To date, the VG Media has signed with more than 29,000 contractors, including cable and IPTV operators, providers of mobile services, accommodation facilities, hospitals, gyms and license agreements.
